Fast & Loose People

4 Tuesdays: April 6, 14, 20, 27
1 to 3 Central

4 weeks: People–faces and figures

This class will be fast paced and fun, from blind contour faces to carrot people.  Our goal is to take the trepidation out of depicting people in watercolor or acrylics and instead, to have a great time and maybe interject a little humor at the same time!

Watercolor from the Start

Watercolor/Watermedia Fast & Loose

8 Thursdays: April 8 – May 27
1 to 3 pm Central

Are you tired of looking at realistic depictions of your painting subject? Do you love other painters’ work because of its fresh, bold strokes? The goal of this class is to paint A LOT.  If you prefer to work with acrylics, inks or gouache in this class and paint in a thin watercolor style, join us!

Fast & Loose Still Life/Floral

4 Tuesdays: May 4, 11, 18 & 25
1 to 3 pm Central

Another Fast & Loose series, this time shooting for energetic marks as we depict flowers, still lifes and interiors.  We will look at Shirley Travena, Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard for inspiration. Paint with your favorite watermedia–acrylics or watercolors.

Acrylic Design and Collage Part 2

Thursdays March 4, 11, 18, 24, 1 to 3 Central

4 weeks: Collage, decollage, frottage, line & texture

This class will include both nonrepresentational and representational painting and collage

Fast and Loose Watercolor

Beginning January 12: 7 Tuesdays (January thru February) 2021, 1 – 3  pm Central

The goal of this class is to paint A LOT.  We will have many timed, quick sessions.  We will be doing blind contour painting and drawing.  The objective is to see how gestural our marks might become if we get out of our own way!

2 Week Botanical Painting Class

Tuesdays November 3 & 10

We will paint with plants! Unusual supply list available when you register.  Suffice it to say this is a wonderful and unique way to have your garden paint your paintings!

2 Week Holiday Card Painting Class

Tuesdays November 17 & 24, 1 – 3 pm Central

Mixed media fun, creating holiday cards for your friends and family.  AND you get to support our postal service!  Join us and get ready to get messy and have fun! (hint: gold leaf is in the supply list (optional))

Loosen up as you join with friends on zoom. We will explore the painting styles and techniques of Shirley Travena and others. We will build still life/interiors with an eye toward unique mark making and interesting design.

Designing in Acrylics: Unique Methods to Create Abstraction. 4 Weeks Oct 15-Nov 5

Hosted by Watercolor Art Society-Houston.
We will explore several unique methods of creating non-representational designs that will provide you many ideas for your future paintings. Our goals are to emphasize bold shapes and values, color and texture using multimedia and collage.  You may work on canvas or paper, at least 9 x 12” but preferably larger. Homework will be suggested but not required.  Please note unique supply list for these 4 classes.
